Metal Detecting Association of Washington

June Meeting Highlights

11 members attended the June 28th meeting.  We were excited to hear about getting a new Parks liaison – Kathy Hale. Kathy has been with State Parks since 1988 and currently coordinates the statewide volunteer program and several other programs including metal detecting.  Kathy can be reached directly at kathy.hale@parks.wa.gov  or (360) 902-8581.  She and her supervisor, Al Wolslegel have confirmed a meeting date of August 30 11am at QFC.  The first order of business will be to compare maps and other information to see if there really are additional developed State Park lands opened that we were promised several years ago in the 2005 Directive.  We’ll continue to try to get them to release more developed properties as well as any acreage that has cleared Archaeological review in the past 3 years.  Special thanks to James Horan for his assistance over the years and staying on top of the personnel changes until a replacement was named.

Note to all Metal Detecting Clubs in the State of Washington:  We need your support now more than ever!
